Targa Tasmania 2018 - Final Prep
A big thank you to the team and supporters
To think the Shelby was in pieces on the first of March having its make over. Thank you to my wife Robyn who gives me unending support and love, my boys Benjamin, Daniel and Matthew, and Albert Paternoster - the Man and the best business partner ever... thanks mate! Also thanks to the whole the team at Mustang Motorsport - James, Aaron, Matthew J, Shaun, David and Justin, and Crossover Car Conversions' Matthew D, Kyle, Ranu, and Sam... you guys are a great team, keep on keeping on.
I must thank all our sponsors and supporters, as we couldn't do this without their generous and enthusiastic support and assistance. Kim, Jenny, Dean and the rest of their crew at Rohde Smash Repairs for the licks of paint, Ferntree Gully Bolts for the tools and bits and pieces. From Power Customs Services to Road Warrior Plus temporary paint protection I thank Tony Power his long term support, along with James from Invisible Car Bra - let me tell you, this is the best way to keep your car looking perfect from abrasion and stone chips. My race cars always look perfect from this protection.
The new comers for Targa Tasmania include long time car racing lover Dave Pitman from Pitman Trucks and Euro Truck Parts, along with Hurricane, Castrol, and the SHELBY American team of Gary, Brianne, Dean, Joe Conway, Neil Cummings, Vince, Tom and Linda. Thanks to everyone for the support. You are all great guys to be associated with. Lets go racing, and smile damnit!
Final preparations
Yesterday Mary and I went for a leisurely drive out to Rosevears hotel on the river and took some photos of the Shelby GT Mustang, then through the back roads to Launceston for a coffee. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining. The roads were still wet and the farmers we passed gave the Shelby a big thumbs up. Then it was off to the Silverdome for scrutineering checkover, tyre marking and weighing, then the drivers briefing and the Welcome Party.
The Silverdome is the first chance for the public to be up close the Targa Fest, so parking the Shelby GT in a prime position for display and signing posters for the crowed is important. Mary acheived signing cramp quickly as she hasn’t sign this much before! It was a great day and night. Tomorrow we head up to George Town for the prologue where we race through the streets.
Look out For Aaron in the blue F-150 and Ronda and Glennis in the ROUSH Mustang, both plastered with Mustang Motorsport and Crossover signage. Ask them for a free cool poster of the Shelby GT race car. Mary and I look forward to seeing you out there (or keeping you up to date here),
Craig.
Keep up with all the latest...
