Targa Tasmania 2018 - Day 4

We woke up to a cloudy sky and it looked as though it could rain. After packing our bags we set off to our new overnight accommodation in Strahan on the wast coast. Heading out to the first stage, Cethana, the fog was thick in places and visibility was poor. Fortunately, the closer we got to the stage start the clearer it became, and the day turned into another beauty.

When we arrived the line was 150 cars long... so 150 x 30 seconds until we start - just a little wait ahead! As we rolled down the hill I dropped the seal of my camelback, so I went for a quick run up the hill to find it. The boys in the Triple-9 sweep car helped me search, but to no avail. They then drove me back to my car, only to find a friendly member of the constabulary writing me a citation for parking on a highway! A quick talk to him got him to put his book back in his pocket (he was one of those grumpy ones).

Finally we got to start, and Mary and I gave this stage a good crack, resulting in my best drive time ever so a new PB for Craig, Go Team! The next stage was Castra, which is a slippery stage with gravel on it - a perfect recipe to mess with you rhythm. We got through quickly and safely, then did some suspension adjustments for Gunns Plains. This made us a little slower so we went back to the optimum settings at lunch. Everything was running sweet with Aaron, our leading tech in the F-150, meeting us along the way to check the SHELBY GT and make sure it's how we need it - thanks Mate :)

After lunch was Hellyer Gorge, one of my favourites. We flew through this one - what a thrill to catch and pass a few cars. Rosebery was shortened, which was very disappointing. So the old Mt Black stage was run as Rosebery, and again we went through this one flying with zero penalty as we cleaned it. It's all over for another hard day at the office - lets see what tomorrow brings,,
