Targa Tasmania 2018 - Day 6

It was the final day of Targa Tasmania 2018 and the Mustang Motorsport team were relaxed and ready for the last six stages South of Hobart. With the first two stages rough and bumpy, caution was taken as the most important job at hand now was to bring the car home straight after a long week of rallying. Unfortunately the next stage was downgraded to a drive through due to an incident, we wish all the best to those involved.

We were out of the podium places but we still had a battle with Roe and Lloyd in the BMW M2 and Nunn and Johnstone in the Porsche Cayman GTS to hold the 5th position we started the day with. We maintained on some stages, gave a little away on others, and gained some back on the last stage, Longley. We enjoyed the banter with the two other teams between stages, talking about the gaps between our cars and how much we all had to make up to keep the positions or gain one. In the end with a good run through Longley we finished in 6th place, two seconds behind 5th and 6 seconds of 7th.

Tasmania really turned on the weather for us this year and we enjoyed every moment of it. Mustang Motorsport would like to congratulate all podium placegetters in the event and thank all competitors for the camaraderie and competition through the week. Thanks to the best mechanic and service crew a Mustang could have, Aaron. We could always count on you to be where we needed and to work under pressure to keep us within the time constraints that Targa rules require.

Thanks to all the Mustang fans for their support and encouragement during the event; we appreciate you going out of your way to come and talk with us. We also would like to congratulate Rhonda Matthews and Glenys on completing the Targa Tour in the Mustang lent to them by us, and thank them for flying the Mustang Motorsport flag through the week.
