Lake Mountain Sprint

Lake Mountain Sprint - Day 1

Mustang Motorsport woke up in beautiful Marysville to the sound of Magpies and the not too distant rumbling of race cars getting ready for the day. The sky was red and the clouds were building up with the threat of rain.

After the first warm up stage the rain started and the first few few stages were wet and slippery. Add a bit of oil dropped by another competition car and it created some excitement for the teams as you came in to a corner waiting for understeer, or maybe it will be oversteer this time! After a few wet stages the wind blew the clouds away, the sun came out and we went from wet to intermediate and then dry stages.

As usual Craig makes suspension adjustments to the car depending on the conditions, but now it is becomes less trial and error and more about knowing where it should be for the influencing factors. We have had some good runs and got used to the wet, and then adjusted to the dry roads and won the last 3 stages. At the end of the day we have moved in to first place with a bit of a lead.

Having a well earned coffee and some cheese and crackers at the end of the day before we head to the event dinner tonight. Weather forecast for tomorrow we believe is fine but we will wait and see and deal with what we are delivered.

Craig and Mary.
