Targa Tasmania 2016 - Day 1
Goodday folks! Day 1 is a relaxed day to get the car and crew adjusted for the real start. It is for the purpose of start order seeding and easing into the competition.
Targa Tasmania attracts all types of make and model of cars, and also a varying array of driver skills. Day one usually has many accidents throughout the four stages of the day. The first one is speed restricted, with the following stages at your fastest pace. Unfortunately the third stage was downgraded from a serious accident. The driver and navigator suffered broken bones and an old BMW was missing an Engine! Our prayers go out to the crew and family.
After the George Town stage we parked the Shelby GT in Regent Square and handed out posters to the enthusiastic crowd - this is where we have our one hour of Hollywood-like fame!
Today is the day when the real racing starts! The first stage is The Sideling, which is famous for sliding in the wet as the slippery surface is always covered in mud and oil from the heavy trucks that pass over it each day. Today it is looking like a fine run, however it is early morning and cold so we will have to keep our wits about us. Alex and I worked well together yesterday and are really looking forward to today’s competition.
We have some great drivers in some great cars this year to compete against, and it’s going to be a real tough event to win!
Stay Tuned,
Craig.
